Verizon Workers Take Message to the Public
Â
Increasingly fed up with Verizon’s profits-before-people business model, Verizon workers in Virginia are taking the message to the public.
Radio and print ads are being run in Northern Virginia by the Communications Workers of America District 2 and CWA Local 2222. They each point out that despite a $4.3 billion profit turned by Verizon last year alone, Verizon is cutting services and jobs, causing delays for customers and sending jobs elsewhere at the expense of local communities.Â
Listen to the radio ad by clicking here, and the newspaper ads can be seen here and here.
The ads are part of a growing movement by the Verizon workers to ask why Verizon, an extremely profitable company making millions because of generous taxpayer give-aways, is turning a blind eye on the communities it services and the workers who provide those services. Virginia legislators have joined in demanding Verizon change the way it does business, and so have public officials in Maryland, New Jersey and New York.
